The intelligent laser laboratory: application tests as if on site

Laser source manufacturer Luxinar says it has expanded its range of services for customers worldwide by setting up an intelligent application laboratory for its ultrashort pulse laser sources at its headquarters in the UK.
Luxinar has installed cameras to capture and live stream laser processing trials, including at a microscopic level, in its applications lab.  Luxinar’s application engineers can demonstrate processes and share information during application tests in real time; customers can provide immediate feedback and processes can be modified and repeated as required. With Microsoft Teams, customers interact live with engineers and can see and hear the laser processing of their material. Cameras provide an overview of the entire lab and its operators, as well as a close-up view of the workpiece during laser processing. With a microscope in the same lab, customers can examine the results in detail at every stage of the test. A recording of the entire process and discussions can be shared later if desired.
Yannick Galais, Sales Manager at Luxinar, explains: ‘“We are delighted to be able to offer this smart technology to our customers.“ Live streaming processing of customer sample materials and the ability to interact with application engineers has reduced sample turnaround times and enabled new solutions to be developed, says Galais. „This novel approach will improve knowledge sharing with our customers and enable them to accelerate the development of customised solutions for their markets.“
