21 Jan Blue diode laser for copper and gold 3D printing
The new blue high-brilliance diode lasers LDFblue 400-wbc and LDFblue 800-wbc with wavelength beam combining (WBC) technology from Laserline offer a beam quality of 4 mm∙mrad and output powers of 400 or 800 watts. According to the manufacturer, they are particularly suitable for energy- and material-efficient copper and gold processing in applications such as powder bed-based 3D metal printing and joining. For the first time since Laserline acquired a majority stake in WBC Photonics in summer 2024, the two diode laser models combine Laserline’s LDF diode laser technology with WBC Photonics’ blade engine technology. The high beam quality of WBC-based lasers is reportedly combined with a robust, IoT-capable system architecture that offers high efficiency and stable, spatter-free melt pools during processing.
