W3+ Fair Wetzlar 2025 with its eleventh edition

The interdisciplinary W3+ Fair Wetzlar promises another two days of inspiration and dialogue in spring 2025. The trade fair aims to offer experts from the region and beyond in the economically strong high-tech region of Wetzlar/Mittelhessen a platform to explore new business opportunities and jointly launch technological innovations. According to organiser Fleet Events, the focus will be on key fields of application such as semiconductors, medical technology, life sciences, mechanical and plant engineering, automotive and aerospace. According to the organiser, prominent representatives from the region include companies such as Carl Zeiss SMT, Hensoldt Optronics, OptoTech Optikmaschinen, Harmonic Drive, Helmut Hund and SPEA. Numerous exhibitors such as Märzhäuser, LK Mechanik, Hoyer Montagetechnik, Bandelin Electronic, Fibotec Fiberoptics, AuTeBa and Mountain Photonics will be presenting at the trade fair for the first time.

Conference and framework events

According to the organisers, knowledge transfer is a top priority at the W3+ Fair. The accompanying conference en-tech.talks, which is supported by many partners – including the Gold Partners Wetzlar Network and EPIC – will start with the topic block ‘Semiconductor Technology from Central Hessen’. Other main topics include laser development, life science/medical technology, transformation using the automotive industry as an example, an EPIC TechWatch, industrial image processing with AI and modern optics.

Special events on AI and other topics

In addition to the pure focus on the core topics of optics, photonics, electronics and mechanics, supporting events on important cross-sectional technologies will be offered. Special events on AI, robotics and security & defence are planned at the W3+ Fair: The conference organised by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the Lahn-Dill district will focus on the central topic of ‘AI in companies’ on the first day of the fair.  This will be followed on the second day of the trade fair by a joint conference organised by VDI, VDE, IHK innovativ and IHK Gießen-Friedberg on the topic of ‘AI and Robotics’. AI workshops will also be offered to provide practical insights into the latest technology. The industry association Spectaris is inviting its ‘Defence & Security’ specialist group to the trade fair for the first time. The Start-up Matching – organised by the Business Angels and Regional Management from Central Hesse – offers young founders a platform to talk to established companies.
Guided tours are also planned on the topics of medical technology and automotive. These will be organised together with the Central Hesse automotive initiative TeamMit and the Central Hesse Life Science Network. Further tours are planned by the VDI and EPIC.

Gold partner Wetzlar Network celebrates its anniversary

The founding partner of the W3+ Fair, the Wetzlar Network, is also celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2025. Network Manager Ralf Niggemann is delighted: ‘Over the years, the W3+ Fair has established itself in the region as an indispensable source of inspiration for local industry with a far-reaching ripple effect.’ The association of public representatives and entrepreneurs from the fields of optics, electronics and mechanics is proud to be the initiator and thus part of this success story, emphasises Niggemann. ‘The underlying cross-industry concept drives the companies and therefore the region forward.’
