With its Xi Compact Line, Optris says it combines the advantages of precise thermal imaging cameras with the benefits of infrared thermometers. According to the manufacturer, the compact VGA infrared camera Xi 640 offers comprehensive and non-contact condition monitoring in industry. The optical resolution is 640 x 480 pixels with a refresh rate of 32 Hz in the spectral range from 8 to 14 µm. Fast thermal processes can be monitored at temperatures between -20 °C and +900 °C. The camera also has an auto-spot finder function, which can be used to measure the temperature of moving objects without having to readjust the camera.
In correspondence with the other models in the Xi family, the Xi 640 uses a motorized focus for remote focusing. Image processing is carried out using the supplied PIX Connect software with line scan function, which according to the supplier is free of charge. Important parameters are configured via a USB 2.0 interface; a USB-to-GigE converter is optional. The camera is supplied with a process interface cable and a USB cable.
The thermal imaging camera can be used in ambient temperatures between 0 °C and +50 °C as standard. According to the manufacturer, further accessories for the camera are optionally available: from the air purge attachment and the mounting bracket to the water-cooling housing for use in ambient temperatures of up to +250 °C.
The compact camera is intended to be a simple and reliable entry into VGA thermography for various industries. Areas of application include mechanical engineering and the OEM integrator sector.
