Femtosecond IR laser with more than 200 W

The new IceFyre FS IR200 from Spectra-Physics (MKS Instruments) is a femtosecond laser with more than 200 W of power and a pulse energy of more than 200 µJ at ultrashort pulses less than 500 fs in the infrared range. Repetition rates range from single shot to 50 MHz. The laser offers operation in programmable TimeShift Burst Mode, as well as features such as Pulse-on-Demand (POD) or Position Synchronized Output Triggering (PSO). The femtosecond laser is fully automated and computer-controlled, and demonstrates high stability in terms of power, beam parameters and beam direction during 24/7 operation, according to the manufacturer. The ‘it’s-in-the-box’ design integrates laser and control electronics in one easy-to-install system.

According to the manufacturer, the femtosecond laser is suitable, for example, for the production of advanced electronics, displays, solar cells or medical technology for fast, high-quality laser micro-machining  of glass, polymers, metals, sapphires and polycrystalline diamond, as well as numerous other materials.
