06 Mar From research to industry: SKZ names Haip Solutions premium research partner
With the ‘Premium Research Partner’ award, the Kunststoff-Zentrum SKZ annually recognizes companies that stand out for exceptionally trustworthy, innovative, and successful collaboration in research. For the year 2025, Haip Solutions has now been honored with this distinction. The collaboration between SKZ and Haip Solutions is part of the research project ‘SpectralAIge’. According to SKZ, several project partners are pooling their expertise in this joint initiative to develop AI-supported spectroscopic methods for the precise detection of aging processes in plastics.
Multispectral fluorescence for aging diagnostics
Haip Solutions’ contribution is a powerful LIF-HSI system (LED-induced fluorescence hyperspectral imaging) that operates with four different LED excitation sources and enables the highly precise capture of multispectral fluorescence signatures for aging diagnostics.
In addition, a SWIR hyperspectral camera from the company is used in the project, allowing the identification of different plastics—for example for incoming goods inspection of plastic granulates or for the rapid classification of material streams in industrial applications.
The methods developed within the project are intended to open up new possibilities in the condition assessment, sorting, and quality control of plastics. The use of hyperspectral technologies not only enables the early detection of aging processes and rapid, non-destructive material identification, but also improves process reliability and efficiency, while supporting optimized circularity in the plastics industry.
From research into industrial applications
