EPIC Sustainability Award 2025

The European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC) honors IMM Photonics with the first EPIC Sustainability Award 2025 for its contributions to environmental, social and economic sustainability. Founded in 1992, IMM Photonics specializes in the development and production of customer-specific optical and optoelectronic components and modules. IMM Photonics has been pursuing a consistent sustainability policy since 2015, says the company. According to IMM Photonics, this can be seen in the reduction of CO₂ emissions by over 45 % in 2023 compared to the previous year. Other measures include energy-saving LED lighting at all sites and the switch to 100 % green electricity at the Teisnach site. Motion detectors also reduce unnecessary energy consumption. Furthermore,  mercury-containing lamps have been replaced by UV LEDs in production, an in-house water treatment system has been installed and the company fleet has been almost completely converted to electric vehicles, says IMM Photonics.
On a social level, the company states that it offers full flexibility in terms of work location and that suppliers must also commit to fair working conditions, ethical behavior and environmental responsibility.
Carlos Lee, Director General of EPIC, congratulated IMM Photonics and emphasized that sustainability is one of the most important issues that companies will have to deal with in the coming years, as both politics and society increasingly demand more responsibility from companies in climate and environmental protection.
Christian Raith, CEO of IMM Photonics, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
