Quantum Photonics: Boosting synergies

Quantum Photonics – a European trade event for quantum technologies and photonics is being organized by the trade fair location Messe Erfurt for the first time this year. On May 13 and 14, the congress trade fair will offer a platform for the exchange of knowledge between experts from research, development, construction and application in the form of a trade exhibition, a user-oriented expert congress and networking opportunities. According to the organizer, the new specialist event aims to develop synergies between the fields of quantum technology systems and photonics. The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF will provide support with its expert knowledge for the congress trade fair.

Congress with four main focuses

According to the organizers, the congress will focus on four application-related topics: ‘Quantum for Cyber Security’, ‘Quantum meets AI’, ‘Quantum for Instrumentation and Measurement’ and ‘Quantum for Mobility’. All four topics will be presented in their own forum with keynote speeches and practice-oriented presentations. Professor Dr. Jaw-Shen Tsai from Tokyo University of Science will give the cross-topic keynote speech on ‘Superconducting Kerr Parametric Oscillators based Bosonic Qubit – A Practical Quantum Information Processing Platform’. He led the qubit project at NEC Tsukuba for many years and is team leader at the Riken Center for Quantum Computing in Japan.

Networking in the evening

As the networking concept will play a central role at Quantum Photonics, the networking event ‘Quantum Live’ will take place in the evening on May 13, 2025. In addition to participants and exhibitors, supra-regional players from research and development, industry, politics, media and associations will also be there to network, according to the organizer.

Trade exhibition and lecture stage

The following companies will be presenting their products at the trade exhibition in order to talk directly to their users: Lasos Lasertechnik, Fraunhofer IOF, Hamamatsu Photonics Deutschland, Fiberware, AIM Micro Systems, Nanoplus Nanosystems and Technologies, Abbe Center of Photonics, QuNET-Initiative, CiS Forschungsinstitut für Mikrosensorik, SmarAct, X-Fab Global Services, Quantum Optics Jena and Layertec.
Parallel to the specialist congress, the Panel Stage, as an open lecture forum in the middle of the specialist exhibition, offers a meeting point for trade fair visitors, congress participants and exhibitors. Here, experts from research and development will provide insights into their projects and present technical innovations from the world of quantum technology and photonics.
