W3+ Fair Wetzlar: Two days of innovation, inspiration and networking

The W3+ Fair Wetzlar 2023 came to a successful close on March 30, 2023, says the organizer. More than 150 exhibitors and speakers and over 1900 visitors reportedly took advantage of the networking fair to share new innovations and solutions and forge new alliances across industries. According to the organizer, 27 % of the exhibiting companies from the optics, photonics, electronics and mechanics sectors came from the high-tech region of Wetzlar/Mittelhessen, 48 % from other German states and 25 % from abroad – more than ever before. 10 countries were represented, including Switzerland, Italy, France, Great Britain, the USA and the Netherlands.

Conference, special areas and supporting program

At the accompanying conference en-tech.talks, some 30 speakers presented topics such as optics manufacturing, photonics & microtechnology, innovative solutions from Hessen, trends in optics and others. The attached High Level Expert Meeting (HLEM) of the Competence Center Ultraprecise Surface Processing UPOB was held for the first time. According to the organizer, the special areas were also well attended: including those of IHK Hessen Innovativ and VDI with AI, 3D printing, cobots and automation, the special area ‘Microtechnologies for optical devices’ from IVAM and the joint stand of the high-tech region of Thuringia. The Microtechnology Association also used the trade show to hold the first meeting of the Photonics Specialist Group. The Regionalmanagement Mittelhessen is said to have been doubly involved: with the on-site meeting of the new automotive network TeamMIT as well as – together with the Business Angels Mittelhessen – at the Start-up Matching. Wetzlar Network invited to the C-Level Coffee, and there were also visits from the sensor technology working group of the Gießen-Friedberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the German Association for Materials Management and Purchasing (BME).

Next year’s anniversary

“The W3+ Fair is the central industrial fair for enabling technologies in Germany,” was the positive assessment of Jörg Brück, Project Director of the W3+ Fair, after the fair. “People are happy about the exchange with existing customers and new contacts – you can notice that in the run-up and on site. For the 10th anniversary next year, we want to focus even more on innovation, inspiration and networking and will enrich the concept accordingly.”

The next W3+ Fairs will take place in Jena on November 29 and 30, 2023 – a premiere. In Wetzlar, the doors will then open for the 10th W3+ Fair in Hessen on March 13 and 14, 2024.
