Jenoptik plans new clean room fab

In order to expand its production capacities, Jenoptik intends to invest in a modern production building and an office complex at its Dresden site. According to the company, this is in response to the growing demand for optics and sensors for the semiconductor industry. “With our investment we are securing our further growth and strengthening our position as a reliable supplier to the global chip industry,” said Stefan Traeger, Chairman of the Executive Board at Jenoptik, commenting on the project.

The photonics group has been present in Dresden since 2007 and is part of a network of research institutes and industrial partners there. Jenoptik develops and produces optical components with lithographic processes and precision sensor modules in Dresden.

The plans for the clean room building and the office complex are to be brought to the approval stage before the end of this year. Construction is then scheduled to begin in the 2nd half of 2022, and production is expected to start in the new factory at the beginning of 2025. Jenoptik already acquired a 24,000 m2 plot of land in Dresden Airport Park in May this year.
