USP laser diode drivers access shorter wavelengths

iC-Haus has expanded its iC-HS series with the iC-HSB, a laser diode driver designed specifically for operating short-wave laser sources. According to the supplier, it enables a laser diode supply voltage of up to 15 V, opening up applications in the blue, green, and UV spectral range.
The iC-HSB is designed for precise control in gain switching mode, generating picosecond laser pulses. The output parameters – currents up to 600 mA and pulse lengths from 100 ps – can be adjusted in fine increments. This is beneficial in optimizing for fluorescence-based applications, such as in immunology, laboratory diagnostics, and medical technology.
The iC-HSB also enables the effective detection of fluorophores such as GFP derivatives or the 5-TAMRA dye, which play a central role in the labeling of biomolecules such as gene probes, proteins, or antibodies. The generation of short, intense laser pulses achieves a particularly high time resolution, which significantly improves sensitivity and precision in detection.
Additional advantages arise from the convenient parameterization and compact design of the driver module. The simple integration and programmable control are intended to facilitate both development and automation in production environments. In addition, the space-saving design helps miniaturize modern analysis devices, including mobile point-of-care systems.
