12 Jan. Mode-locked laser for metrology and spectroscopy
The mode-locked diode laser DFB Pro 633 from Toptica Photonics is a tunable laser for measurement applications with an output power of up to 8 mW. The single-frequency laser based on a DFB (distributed feedback) diode operates at a central wavelength of 633 nm and provides a mode-locked tuning range of 200 GHz. It is controlled by Toptica’s DLC-pro controller. The laser’s frequency-selective element—a Bragg grating—is integrated into the active region of the semiconductor, ensuring continuous single-frequency operation. With no alignment-sensitive components, DFB lasers exhibit high stability and reliability, even under harsh environmental conditions. Typical applications include semiconductor metrology and spectroscopy.
Distributed feedback lasers combine high tunability with substantial output power. “Our DFB Pro 633 offers a mode-jump-free tuning range of 200 GHz. Driven by the DLC‑pro controller, it is ready for integration into OEM systems,” says Stéphane Junique, product manager for the DFB Pro laser platform at Toptica.
