High-Performance LEDs for horticulture and industry

Distributor Rutronik is expanding its portfolio of high-performance LEDs for demanding lighting tasks with the Osconiq P-3737 Batwing series from ams Osram. The series includes several color variants – from Hyper Red to Horti White – and delivers, according to the supplier, excellent surface homogeneity and high energy efficiency for horticultural and industrial lighting. The LEDs feature a batwing beam profile (140°), which ensures uniform light distribution without hot spots.
The wall plug efficiency (WPE) reaches 80.1% at 660 nm and 72.9% at 730 nm under operating conditions of 85 °C and 700 mA. This results in above-average energy efficiency, states the supplier. The LEDs are designed for drive currents of up to 2800 mA, enabling the development of compact luminaires with high photon flux. They also offer long service life – 102 kilohours (khrs) for Hyper Red as specified by LM80 Q90. All variants are characterized by high reliability (junction temperatures up to 135 °C), 8 kV ESD protection (HBM Class 3B), and robust SMD packages with silicone lenses.

GH PUBRA1.25 (Hyper Red, λcentroid typ. 672 nm) – optimized for maximum photosynthetic efficiency in the chlorophyll-A range

GF PUBRA1.25 (Far Red, λcentroid typ. 733 nm) – suitable for controlling flowering and dormancy phases via the phytochrome system

GD PUBRA1.15 (Deep Blue, λcentroid typ. 451 nm) – supports chlorophyll-B formation and vegetative growth

GW PUBRA1.HW (Horti White, broad spectrum 400–700 nm) – full-spectrum lighting for mixed systems and human-centric applications

Typical applications include horticulture and indoor farming (plant growth, flowering control, vertical farming), agricultural research, and sensor technology.
