12 Jan. Diffractive diffusers and beam splitters for lasers
Edmund Optics now offers diffractive diffusers and beam splitters from Israeli manufacturer HOLO/OR as standard products – without the delays that custom orders can entail.
The diffractive diffusers convert collimated beams into square or circular profiles with high homogeneity and minimal zero-order effects, states the supplier. Unlike polymer-based or microlens diffusers, these are designed for high destruction thresholds and uniform intensity distribution, which should enable better process quality at higher laser powers. Applications include laser beam welding, laser ablation, and medical laser treatments.
The diffractive beam splitters divide the input beams into uniform point arrays, making them suitable for applications in laser engraving, 3D sensor technology, and fractional laser skin treatments. The beam splitters are optimized for Nd:YAG and CO2 wavelengths (355 nm, 532 nm, 1064 nm, and 10.6 μm) and, according to the supplier, enable faster transmission, improved repeatability, and reliable operation under high energy loads.
